Boston Whaler 13′ Sport
The original 1958 Whaler. Where the legend started.
In 1958, Dick Fisher and Ray Hunt launched a 13-foot, foam-cored, cathedral-hull skiff and proved it unsinkable by sawing one in half on national television. Both halves stayed afloat — and an entire boat-building category was born.
The 13-foot Sport (and its slightly fancier siblings — Super Sport, Sport GLS) is the boat that taught generations of New England kids how to drive. Light, almost impossible to flip, and built to last forever, an original 13 is still one of the most usable small boats ever made.
A clean, restored 13 today is a rolling piece of marine history — and one of the few classic boats that is genuinely just as fun to use today as it was 60 years ago.
